Jobs for the HR leaders building People systems.

People teams have always done two jobs: the one they were hired for, and the operational work that fills their calendar. The companies are solving the operational workload by hiring People Engineers to build the systems to handle the second one.

What is a People Engineer?

When a function’s work turns into systems work, the title picks up “engineer.” It happened to sales, to marketing, to growth. It is happening to People now. Tax filings, benefits enrollment, laptop orders and the fortieth PTO question of the year are moving to agents that own the work and report back. People Engineers decide which work goes to the agents, wire the systems together, set how much autonomy each workflow gets, and decide where the machine stops and a person starts. The goal is for agents to handle the manual, tedious work so HR teams can get back to the human work.
